processing information...or not

I'm working on a lace shawl with a complex and wide chart (this is a small part of it), and somehow the eye-brain-hand part isn't working for me. I think I'm extremely dyslexic, because those two tiny triangle symbols aren't something that my brain is processing. One represents a left leaning decrease and one a right leaning one. Every single time I get to one, I have to refer to the chart key. Anyone else have this issue??
